Several weeks ago, a friend of mine asked if I would come to the yarn store with her, and help her make her first yarn purchases. Well, I'm powerless to resist helping a new crocheter and the lure of the yarn store, so off I went. I ended up arriving before her, so I had some time to wander the store before she and her husband arrived. Strangely enough, I managed to find yarn that I wanted. I know, what a shock.<br />
<br />

I got these little balls of baby yarn for baby socks, because baby socks are fun and kinda addictive to make. That, and I love these colours.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm29IZLeFdaOsElRh6P8HZEsYPTbwY2MgW9LUpQttNUer5o-ncmBVDwiym4VeVoWOBfXp8PGRAO873Kq_damIRZY5qezHEZmEC0WKX5D_mZbvyL1fWhF7s8VSLvpT62-eZhmN-V24rUyc/s1600/yarn04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm29IZLeFdaOsElRh6P8HZEsYPTbwY2MgW9LUpQttNUer5o-ncmBVDwiym4VeVoWOBfXp8PGRAO873Kq_damIRZY5qezHEZmEC0WKX5D_mZbvyL1fWhF7s8VSLvpT62-eZhmN-V24rUyc/s320/yarn04.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I got this lovely wool for an upcoming gift.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZPgORAcJK_DYlQPBTm5tgIqPYus4m3OXmQGuwFjNmFiVBzsajXiR1fiBLdaDFVgUL2OUzM8rFZDgNfwsq5nLt3SvGg5QOtoN8s-Qv5CFqn95oXM-ho385zq4qH6gEA6_U4DIRYOmsg3Q/s1600/yarn02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZPgORAcJK_DYlQPBTm5tgIqPYus4m3OXmQGuwFjNmFiVBzsajXiR1fiBLdaDFVgUL2OUzM8rFZDgNfwsq5nLt3SvGg5QOtoN8s-Qv5CFqn95oXM-ho385zq4qH6gEA6_U4DIRYOmsg3Q/s320/yarn02.jpg" width="238" /></a></div>
And this beautiful stuff... I told myself that it was to stripe with some of the crazy variegated and self striping stuff I have, but it's so gorgeous I may just have to make a lovely neutral sweater with it.<br />
<br />
Did I mention this stuff was all on sale? I swear I just hung around too long and the yarn fumes got me. That's why I don't buy nearly as much yarn now that I don't work in a yarn store. The fumes don't have enough time to work their dark powers.<br />
<br />

I have actually made my first project with my new yarn- these adorable little baby socks! It used up the whole ball of pink. I have to decide how I'm going to use the other colours. I have other balls of this yarn in my stash, so I'll have to pull it out and find some new combinations. Once I have time.<br />
<br />

Last weekend I woke up early on Saturday, and decided to spend the morning shopping. I ended up with a new wallet, a few things for my husband, and these beautiful new shoes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I'm working on these socks, which I think will be lovely with the shoes. I'm actually past the heel now on the first one.<br />
<br />

In the meantime, I wore them with another pair of handmade socks this week, which made me so happy! Just needlin' ya with the bad pun in the title. I've been doing some sewing lately, and have gotten a little bit addicted to make <a href="http://grosgrainfabulous.blogspot.ca/2014/12/southwestern-snug-cozy-fleece-leggings.html" target="_blank">these</a> fleece leggings. Although I only have this one finished pair to show- the others were testers to make adjustments to the pattern. Actually, that's not even accurate- the first pair I wanted to be nice, but I accidentally cut against the stretch, derp.<br />
<br />
The second pair I should have made first- I was less excited about that fleece (just plain cream) and did an alright job, but discovered that the person who wrote the pattern clearly has different proportions to me. I've now added the length and height to them that I like.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge2JBNp80G5w4lEC28MOx11O-JUBnjgpKB8fxOsd7QexdbXTrWJMWK4aMRx6MF6mXBVpbqBHQThaYIfu6wfMC7vwYJf1jmVOaXJKPEKbA5Wq_9gUG7hkvKNFegLn3gnPTgWFTgieHKOY0/s1600/farbic02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge2JBNp80G5w4lEC28MOx11O-JUBnjgpKB8fxOsd7QexdbXTrWJMWK4aMRx6MF6mXBVpbqBHQThaYIfu6wfMC7vwYJf1jmVOaXJKPEKbA5Wq_9gUG7hkvKNFegLn3gnPTgWFTgieHKOY0/s320/farbic02.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The first pair fit ok, but was sorta short and tight on the calves and I found the back part not tall enough for my butt. I have some pretty awesome booty, and there was just not room for it. So for this pair, I added a lot of length (although I still want to add another inch to the pattern pieces I made) and added a lot of height to top, especially the back. Now they fit like the coziest sweat pants, but snug enough to be leggings. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjez7Q4zCrnCiWWGsSHJh_bORpizXUulD3dlU6cCPMdH647YGiYDonF4ItFOlHVjzj8WCMC0KqWlOFKUt8489WZiTzN6mzuAOki99rXazU8ITeN2w0VK9wwNaZ2TiZgK7tADTmc-Aqdgn8/s1600/farbic01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="251" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjez7Q4zCrnCiWWGsSHJh_bORpizXUulD3dlU6cCPMdH647YGiYDonF4ItFOlHVjzj8WCMC0KqWlOFKUt8489WZiTzN6mzuAOki99rXazU8ITeN2w0VK9wwNaZ2TiZgK7tADTmc-Aqdgn8/s320/farbic01.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Besides the awesome fleece lined knit I made the first pair in, I also have the same fabric in pink and the two blue fleeces shown above to make more pairs in. They only take about 45 minutes to make, so I just have to find a little time. Maybe today- although today I'm helping a good friend move in just down the street, which is so exciting! But perhaps I can carve out time to make a pair. The only question is which fabric do I use first?<br />

I've finished a few projects recently. This little cowl was finished last month.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOuSUFWDIlNiGzHh0dwJ84g6bkzuoB8HXW-hMuvwIhbdadzlnu8em1rNc61aeht5l3O1mJEW771D_UY7DfgfvX2ir04HlIvjLnsEK4Fhg3Nq-GOIn8sLuR4RcArm6T5Tb62lValYQ6uOo/s1600/cowl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOuSUFWDIlNiGzHh0dwJ84g6bkzuoB8HXW-hMuvwIhbdadzlnu8em1rNc61aeht5l3O1mJEW771D_UY7DfgfvX2ir04HlIvjLnsEK4Fhg3Nq-GOIn8sLuR4RcArm6T5Tb62lValYQ6uOo/s320/cowl.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
It's a fun pattern, working moss stitch over a thick and thin wool. I used a few handmade wooden buttons I got at the One of a Kind show.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjY-dqaQXejo8hWxhfESZlzN5yq25ZCoMv4FEXYiIM_dpfRYeCabIBaUs2mM5cuE9wd8_ayCB6k1Ugnz3fhTEXzLL2wq5ioECeAPWduEsFYtthaKu90wBuJmNP_UkzpVGXJO1HVF7GeL_I/s1600/hat01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjY-dqaQXejo8hWxhfESZlzN5yq25ZCoMv4FEXYiIM_dpfRYeCabIBaUs2mM5cuE9wd8_ayCB6k1Ugnz3fhTEXzLL2wq5ioECeAPWduEsFYtthaKu90wBuJmNP_UkzpVGXJO1HVF7GeL_I/s320/hat01.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I finished this hat this weekend. The outside is a wool/silk blend, and the lining is alpaca.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6ZWnxbYe_Rz9txXtAb5uay7joeX234L0YbD3-eY2oZHM9jhyphenhyphenSk4TUwLOAMf9a8ERy53Qz1lEK9cpbUsmiR6HFqs34pzenEC0Gfzt4ULvQ4cdHSh0I-e2-RgpgM7tTEGoxV97PHtyJpjQ/s1600/hat02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6ZWnxbYe_Rz9txXtAb5uay7joeX234L0YbD3-eY2oZHM9jhyphenhyphenSk4TUwLOAMf9a8ERy53Qz1lEK9cpbUsmiR6HFqs34pzenEC0Gfzt4ULvQ4cdHSh0I-e2-RgpgM7tTEGoxV97PHtyJpjQ/s320/hat02.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
It's the warmest hat ever. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6ioVAHJ1S41Gimw-s3MxH65t6awKON8CA_DLMakG4u2zX54f6ovsm2jQDaul_zsaugxolhS_HsUBh9ybYkq0hhmJJmD2foswIcw_-qJmYmhPh4JqzW2oq9sJ8YgNt3zzKUUQ6l5oawA0/s1600/hat03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="193" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6ioVAHJ1S41Gimw-s3MxH65t6awKON8CA_DLMakG4u2zX54f6ovsm2jQDaul_zsaugxolhS_HsUBh9ybYkq0hhmJJmD2foswIcw_-qJmYmhPh4JqzW2oq9sJ8YgNt3zzKUUQ6l5oawA0/s320/hat03.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The lining took what seemed liked forever, but I worked on a much faster method of slip stitch that sped things up.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHq9ZAZ3qMu95awHCNCvFOENdiE9vTdnuhblcLI2pLMlfSZWL_w2rCkMH_coZNMtp_py0SBNPKzx85-_lSHs3Ezp0i2O-Y5KjRncKeerUbmfQZtfhaQEV_2cQ5n6kE3jumTlMtPASAGBg/s1600/sweater01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHq9ZAZ3qMu95awHCNCvFOENdiE9vTdnuhblcLI2pLMlfSZWL_w2rCkMH_coZNMtp_py0SBNPKzx85-_lSHs3Ezp0i2O-Y5KjRncKeerUbmfQZtfhaQEV_2cQ5n6kE3jumTlMtPASAGBg/s320/sweater01.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I also finished this sweater, the sweater that I had already finished.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_px4SGVNGAVQQ00XrK06DAb2IRcL8Ge0LFAf2sGN7ECUcNrJ2Qjva-Wfmtm3QTEPzo5r2KpERyTV9rHBKDzCDVetVK7_ieBOSb8w8Fs4nqoZrSByiUFlNYVUEC_sj57RkuXMYS4LnHZc/s1600/sweater02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="293" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_px4SGVNGAVQQ00XrK06DAb2IRcL8Ge0LFAf2sGN7ECUcNrJ2Qjva-Wfmtm3QTEPzo5r2KpERyTV9rHBKDzCDVetVK7_ieBOSb8w8Fs4nqoZrSByiUFlNYVUEC_sj57RkuXMYS4LnHZc/s320/sweater02.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
But I pulled out the ribbing and made a hood, and it looks much better.<br />

I'm also almost finished this blanket. I can't believe it. I left out two rows of motifs, but I am sooo sick of this blanket.<br />

It is lovely, though. I will be giving it away because I'm just so tired of it.. but it is lovely.<br />
<br />
That will make 3 projects I've finished this weekend, which will put me at 8 projects on the go. Almost down to my goal of 7! Even then I can work on getting to even fewer projects on the go. It will be nice never to get so many on the go again. It'll help keep working down the stash.<br />

<br/>
We had fun poking around the lovely stuff there, and I was so tempted by the adorable baby dress sample they had to buy fabric for little dresses too- but that will wait until it's warmer.<br/>
<br/>

<br/>
Anyway, I got back from the store around 2, then spent the rest of the day in a haze watching Gilmore Girls and quilting. By around 11, I had a darling little quilt. Not perfect by any means, but cute!<br/>

Here's a look at the backing. I just made simple envelope pillows, didn't want to bother with zippers.<br/>

And as a bonus, here are some of my friend's dogs cuddling the new pillows.<br/>

I love these pillows! Now I just want to go and buy more cute fabric.</div>Lynn Sibleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651175106466351323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6496062654649237250.post-83128522455257013772016-01-09T11:09:00.001-05:002016-01-09T11:09:17.526-05:00Goodbye Yarn Diet<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'>Last year I decided that I just had too much yarn. The best way to not have too much yarn is of course to stop buying yarn. So I decided that I would stop buying yarn entirely, with the only exceptions being yarn for gifts. <br/>
<br/>
I did buy yarn for some wedding blankets and baby things for my new nieces. I also got a sweater's worth from my Nan-in-law for my birthday so she could help me cheat my yarn diet, that lovely woman. <br/>
<br/>
Those I didn't really count as slipping, but I did actually buy some yarn that was nothing but cheating on the yarn diet. I got two skeins of Lamb's Pride that I'd been lusting after for years that went into the discontinued section in the basement of Romni. I got an awesome ball of neon sock yarn from the basement, and I got four balls of stunning yarn for a sweater that I bought on my business trip in September.<br/>
<br/>
But now my yarn diet is over! I went to both Ewe Knit and Romni this week, and got a little bit of yarn. <br/>
<br/>
<a href='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc-mYkJ1kscrwVKufvtLnYzQkxqyXxYN2W6yRMSOfw6iVhLu76CoDs587JY7ZP-3KEcBqPa4BofSG2qFCz2jQRoX_9ghpBhmeCG06tPLCnzr1CHTB-QmTpeZg4kwPc1sg-YM1sOt_Rwwk/s2560/%25255BUNSET%25255D.jpg' onblur='try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}'><img border='0' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc-mYkJ1kscrwVKufvtLnYzQkxqyXxYN2W6yRMSOfw6iVhLu76CoDs587JY7ZP-3KEcBqPa4BofSG2qFCz2jQRoX_9ghpBhmeCG06tPLCnzr1CHTB-QmTpeZg4kwPc1sg-YM1sOt_Rwwk/s640/%25255BUNSET%25255D.jpg' style='display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;'/></a><br/>
I wanted this yellow sock yarn ever since I first saw it at Romni. I got the thick n thin to match and have been working on these cowls with a great woven look. I did the first one as a tube but didn't quite like that it was so loose at the bottom compared to the top, so I'm trying one worked like a scarf sewn up. Either way, I think they're gorgeous.<br/>
<br/>
<a href='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZoIeVk6pq_YLwNNIn9Bn2BsAnSN1JbgIrpN_NAyJ151gc30qfhYMM6cUq-rAUTeJ3AFGcdmuykVo0_K_oAYoiXotcf5IeteprsooGfCo-Jrc81HTp5r_SpM27jq9sxzPzrSubk7p1EAM/s2560/%25255BUNSET%25255D.jpg' onblur='try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}'><img border='0' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZoIeVk6pq_YLwNNIn9Bn2BsAnSN1JbgIrpN_NAyJ151gc30qfhYMM6cUq-rAUTeJ3AFGcdmuykVo0_K_oAYoiXotcf5IeteprsooGfCo-Jrc81HTp5r_SpM27jq9sxzPzrSubk7p1EAM/s640/%25255BUNSET%25255D.jpg' style='display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;'/></a><br/>
The Koigu is from Ewe Knit and the Sea Cell from Romni. The Sea Cell is something I've been drooling over for years, but was always too pricey. It was my prize for what I consider a successful year of yarn dieting. I don't know what I'll make with it, but for now I'm content to pet it.<br/>
<br/>
<a href='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2i039P9a7EWn8MoYhr6py3_ZG0-75syTD8KP8-26X6WUlHUmvT_L36VXATAA8x3aNXJpxVAE1Xna0eKt5p6VUwc6ayaf9qN9lbdyJ0eepg3VlD9z8fdy6P6oLRH7-qYv9vRDB68WWvvw/s2560/%25255BUNSET%25255D.jpg' onblur='try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}'><img border='0' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2i039P9a7EWn8MoYhr6py3_ZG0-75syTD8KP8-26X6WUlHUmvT_L36VXATAA8x3aNXJpxVAE1Xna0eKt5p6VUwc6ayaf9qN9lbdyJ0eepg3VlD9z8fdy6P6oLRH7-qYv9vRDB68WWvvw/s640/%25255BUNSET%25255D.jpg' style='display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;'/></a><br/>
I also got some fabric from Ewe Knit. I saw some gorgeous pillow covers on vacation, but decided I'd have more fun making my own. I adore this fabric, especially the watercolour-looking floral print. I can't wait to have the pillows made.<br/>
<br/>
I'm still going to keep my yarn buying to a minimum this year as I want to keep reducing my stash, but it's fun to give myself a little freedom again.</div>Lynn Sibleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651175106466351323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6496062654649237250.post-38038349066234450662016-01-05T09:40:00.001-05:002016-01-05T09:40:02.610-05:00Happy New Year!I'd like to lie to you and say that I don't know where the time has gone, and that I have no idea why I haven't posted in so long. I'd like that, but it's not true. I know exactly where it went.<br />

<br />
It went to 60 and 70 hour work weeks, to coming home exhausted with often little energy for crocheting let alone blogging. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Now, finally, the new year is here and work has slowed down and I've mostly figured out my new, big, exciting and scary job. Now I'm looking at what I have left to crochet and nodding, because it all seems reasonable. Now I'm looking at this blog and remembering that I once enjoyed writing it, and that I'd like to do so again.<br />
<br />
Happy New Year. Is there anything nicer on a weekend morning than a nice tea latte and some quiet crochet time? <br />

I'm almost finished this shawl for my cousin- on the last row. Then I have a wedding blanket to get to- the wedding is in two weeks, I need to start some serious hooking! Once those two projects are done... I'm down to 10 projects on the go! Holy cow.<br />
It's amazing how much more productive I am now that I have a job- even though I spend so many hours at work, I come home focused and get stuff done.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkkPNfZqYU43NYq3tAVfctAI2QZ7IM985Dj2zAYqM2w4Q4GEfpmuA1rkTR0wyGzdQzoTblnFZANE-0nn0feI9_DcpXEzrTSPYJ0rtuvLa_xD5J7nzLjcFN1X_EIFN15nGcVUxj1_B5YSQ/s1600/bag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkkPNfZqYU43NYq3tAVfctAI2QZ7IM985Dj2zAYqM2w4Q4GEfpmuA1rkTR0wyGzdQzoTblnFZANE-0nn0feI9_DcpXEzrTSPYJ0rtuvLa_xD5J7nzLjcFN1X_EIFN15nGcVUxj1_B5YSQ/s320/bag.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Speaking of get stuff done- this weekend I got to two sewing projects! I finally made this bag for all my toiletries. I was using two small bags that never quite held enough. This one will hold everything from makeup to toothbrush to shampoo. And don't you love the fabric? <br />I also made another floofy frilly tulle skirt. I still need to add lining to the first one I made. It's a white skirt, and without a slip underneath it's rather revealing. This one is pink and fluffy and I love it. I still have one more to make- it will be a little less fluff and a lot more silky grey layered pretty.<br />
<br />
Time for some Netflix and breakfast, and to finish the very last row of this shawl!Lynn Sibleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651175106466351323noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6496062654649237250.post-1660733893741626912015-05-29T22:21:00.001-04:002015-05-29T22:21:17.138-04:00ConfectionaryHappy Friday!<br />
<br />
I had a lovely time after work meeting up with my best friend for dinner and a nice wander around downtown. She also brought the cardigan I made her and modeled it for a little photoshoot. Now I finally have some good pictures for my newest design, the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/confectionary-cardigan" target="_blank">Confectionary Cardigan</a><br />

Good morning!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I went to bed early last night and woke up with enough time to accomplish things, like emptying and loading the dishwasher. What an exciting life I live. I also realized I finally had a spare moment to update my blog. I've been off overtime for almost two weeks now and am finally starting to catch up on... everything outside of work. It was about time I came back here.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've been working on a lot of little projects lately. Things that are perfect for working on while commuting, things I can pick up on my 10 minute breaks.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk3sZ-snrhhdPpIxRXVoPhB48QfsclOfV7y0_-iq5WyX2MmjiImjOmCebn3YWvmNKXA9ozj-EAXk4SlQtXul-CW_LBVtuU1oSQVlVLU4TnJkroZKdn5B3jrxDkhbeKthDadN9ktheGmes/s1600/headband3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk3sZ-snrhhdPpIxRXVoPhB48QfsclOfV7y0_-iq5WyX2MmjiImjOmCebn3YWvmNKXA9ozj-EAXk4SlQtXul-CW_LBVtuU1oSQVlVLU4TnJkroZKdn5B3jrxDkhbeKthDadN9ktheGmes/s320/headband3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

Like this series of headbands- simple, pretty things and also useful. They hold all my flyaway ends down and don't hurt my brain like a hard headband does.<br />

I have finished some bigger projects too, like this cowl I made. It's just slightly too short, despite vigorous stretching while blocking- but I'll continue to stretch it and hope for the best. It's really soft and nice to wear, although thankfully it's finally too warm for it.<br />
<br />
<br />

This spring hat is something I made to use the rainbow yarn I bought on my Lake Placid trip years ago- my coworker liked it so much I made her one. She knit me a cowl I've been wanting it return. Win-win!<br />

This baby blanket was something I started awhile ago to use up scrap cotton. It was really a nice quick project, and I'm pleased with how it came out. I still need to block it, though.<br />

I got into making widdle baby socks for a few days, and made these two pairs. The first was from a pattern that I converted to slip stitch, and I didn't really like that three row afterthought heel, so the second pair just got a simple heel worked in. I might write up a little pattern for them.<br />
Also, I can't talk about dem wifout cawwing dem widdle baby socks...<br />

This is a scrap shawl project I started to go through some of my fingering scraps, inspired by this <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/572872015076930117/" target="_blank">Pin</a>. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, but I'm not very far.<br />

And last but not least, the wedding blanket I'm making for an upcoming wedding.<br />
<br />
The last several pictures were all quickly snapped with my new cell phone- I finally got a cool phone and I'm very excited about it. Hopefully it will keep me updating!Lynn Sibleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651175106466351323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6496062654649237250.post-26075158235034735262015-03-08T11:37:00.002-04:002015-03-08T11:40:46.354-04:00Finishing ObjectsIt's been a good year for me so far. I have a good satisfying job with long term potential, even if I did end up working yesterday (I'll get my Saturdays back some time!). I have a happy marriage. I'm finally beginning to tidy my cluttered little apartment a little bit. And I've stuck to all my hooky goals this year!<br />
<br />
I've been finishing instead of starting to the extent that I've only started (and finished) two small projects since I made my finishing resolution. This hooker has also not purchased a single ball of yarn this year. I admit, I'll need to get a blanket quantity for a wedding present before the year is out, but that purchase was included in the goal. It means I haven't broken the yarn diet even a little bit. I'm proud!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I've been working on these socks this week, and it's been nice to have a project that goes by so quickly. I pulled out the heel on the first one because I realized that I was putting too many stitches from the foot and not adding enough chains at the back. It was causing the socks I make to pull across the top. Even with just that first row of heel, I can already tell it's going to be more comfy.<br />
<br />
I should have these socks finished this week, and that knocks my current WIPs down from 17 to 16! That means I have only 9 left to go until I hit my goal of 7. Not too shabby for someone who started with 25 projects. This is the halfway point. Now, to be fair I have a lot of time consuming projects left. Not all of them are going to take that long, though. I think I can do it in the first half of the year.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi199ARejbs1a-uC8m30qEyCbL54CGZYXrsZYwp8rvdWjRypR5W2GO_6-s_Ua3w1Y1fyJcYCF03wcRPaBsNFZ8J_rO6sq8RqRO-w502ecNwsApjF9eFBzoncXRHcNRLbKisQta5rn97hSE/s1600/projectstofinishupdate.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi199ARejbs1a-uC8m30qEyCbL54CGZYXrsZYwp8rvdWjRypR5W2GO_6-s_Ua3w1Y1fyJcYCF03wcRPaBsNFZ8J_rO6sq8RqRO-w502ecNwsApjF9eFBzoncXRHcNRLbKisQta5rn97hSE/s1600/projectstofinishupdate.jpg" height="186" width="320" /></a></div>
This picture doesn't show all the WIPs or all the finished projects, but it's nice to see some of what I've finished already.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

After the big long sweater project that I worked on very diligently, I needed something fast and simple to cleanse my crochet palette. I started this scarf a few years ago intending it to be a Christmas present for my brother. I then ran out of time and decided it was much too warm for someone who lives in a very warm climate. It sat half finished for a long time, so I pulled it from the WIP pile and knocked it out. It was nice to work on something that went by so quickly!<br />
<br />
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to make a cup of tea and get a bit of sock finished before I head out to my hockey game. Two pairs of pants and four layers on top in the cold hallway where I work.<br />
<br />
Thankfully I have lots of wooly things to keep me warm. How does everyone else do it?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjavVeOORis62fTG1oPLOyHO7wEk7WDB1TDhbJya9UtiOLsDvW3EKoQ3FGI-H_eqkVXSPbwW45dp9_LcvSH1owkxchwszuDi9K06ASc4kDyyA3ZVClxLR57SNdn5wpzAf6JI2ib-B0T0Aw/s1600/cablegloves.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjavVeOORis62fTG1oPLOyHO7wEk7WDB1TDhbJya9UtiOLsDvW3EKoQ3FGI-H_eqkVXSPbwW45dp9_LcvSH1owkxchwszuDi9K06ASc4kDyyA3ZVClxLR57SNdn5wpzAf6JI2ib-B0T0Aw/s1600/cablegloves.jpg" height="230" width="320" /></a></div>
These had been unfinished for ages, but I really needed something to keep my hands warm and couldn't find my other fingerless gloves that had partial fingers. It's also nice to finally have them done!<br />
<br />

The big excitement for me was finishing this sweater over the weekend. I've been working on it since May on and off, and it's one of those projects that felt like it would never be done.<br />
Above is before blocking.<br />

This is after the first blocking- I decided it was too loose blocked like this, so I reblocked it and made it somewhere between the two. I might just lay it flat and let it sit like the unblocked sweater because I like the collar shape in the top photo, but for now it's a drapey collar and a snugger bodice.<br />
<br />
I love this sweater! I had to pull the sleeves out so many times- I easily pulled out a whole sleeve and then some figuring the first one out. But now they're perfect- not too tight, not too loose. They fit with no sleeves underneath, or with a light layer. They also fit inside a heavier sweater.<br />
<br />
It's almost time for me to leave for work, where I'm excited to show off the finished sweater to my knitting coworker, and to the people who watched me working on it over lunch the last few months. Now to add some layers on top.Lynn Sibleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651175106466351323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6496062654649237250.post-38546780128329940892015-02-01T11:04:00.001-05:002015-02-01T11:04:09.329-05:00A Lot Of SunrisesIt's hard to believe it's only been a month since my last post. A lot has happened to me. The big news is that I got a new job. It's been great so far- I like the work, and the people and company both seem pretty great. The downside is that until we move to our permanent home in March, I commute about 3-4 hours a day. I have to wake up very early, and I don't have a lot of time at home.<br />

I do see a lot of gorgeous sunrises, now. So that's one thing.<br />
<br />
I've actually been getting a lot of crocheting done on my commute, and at lunch breaks. My new work friend is a knitter, so we're starting up a yarn club at the studio. I don't have a lot of time to take pictures of anything, because I'm so rarely home when it's light out!<br />

I made my friend a snuggly winter neckwarmer tube like mine. She hates the cold, so I thought something warm would make it better and be a reminder that I love her!<br />

And this super sweet hat was a baby shower present for a friend who just had the most darling little girl. Hopefully it'll keep her head warm this winter :)Lynn Sibleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651175106466351323noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6496062654649237250.post-3191492033100549892015-01-04T23:53:00.000-05:002015-01-04T23:53:37.832-05:00Stash Flash!So I spent many hours today pulling out every single ball in my stash and sorting through it. It took a long time and was exhausting... but fun, too. I enjoyed going through it. Got rid of a bunch, got a bunch ready to give away. Found some with signs of moth issues, and some stuff that just got tossed. All of the yarn I've kept is stuff I'm pretty sure about wanting to use.<br />
<br />

This is my little fibre spinning stash. I intend to never let it get bigger than this- I'm a slow spinner. I only finish a few projects a year. 6 kinds of fibre waiting to be spun is as much as I ever want!<br />

This is the frog pile- stuff on the right is wips I had forgotten about that I'm pretty sure I'm going to finish. I'll need to add them to the wip-down.<br />

I love my yarn, but I am ready to stash down. I am very much glad that I have all of it, and I loved all the great sales I got when the store closed. But now my stash is bigger than I want and I'm ready to make it smaller.<br />
So... this year, I'm going cold sheep. No buying new yarn this year, except anything that I need for gifts that are leaving the house. If I get through the year without buying yarn, I'll buy myself some of the seasilk I've been dying to get for years. Wish me luck!<br />

I need to get a proper photoshoot of it, somewhere with light, but it's done and the pattern is written. Good photos and a test are all that's missing. Yay! That can wait until the new year. For now, I'm down to 16 projects already, and the new year hasn't even started.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji9kXdusEl1w6pBk4ZFwBA0KPskIYF8dJHBg4t0qAf_lR7fJuGvCoHjYQfhVKsfHxJS8tPyPaYcwGaFYrpKW0-UQPuXOOK_VW5qEWxbUfQnw0Ii-kECuBRqnmCngPulL_h6FAX1NMuffw/s1600/critron2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji9kXdusEl1w6pBk4ZFwBA0KPskIYF8dJHBg4t0qAf_lR7fJuGvCoHjYQfhVKsfHxJS8tPyPaYcwGaFYrpKW0-UQPuXOOK_VW5qEWxbUfQnw0Ii-kECuBRqnmCngPulL_h6FAX1NMuffw/s1600/critron2.jpg" height="221" width="320" /></a></div>
I also blocked out my critron, which really improved it. I still don't want it, but now it looks much nicer for whoever gets it. Lynn Sibleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651175106466351323noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6496062654649237250.post-44805078522994165552014-12-16T14:05:00.001-05:002014-12-21T11:43:12.057-05:00Progress!Despite a still dreary, dark world out there and a cold I'm fighting off, I've actually made progress on my resolution!<br />
I wanted to start with the easy stuff to get that early satisfaction of finishing stuff off, and to knock a few things off the list that have been in progress for... longer than I'd care to admit. Some of them still need blocking, but hey- baby steps.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhml5LfVJa_n1xoFLxNAMB2izsyOCbIHnEqb4qWUciUI8uUo9Wd4F4ItWpXiokza-59M-MaMYq-DLCmYYTY4UW9AvHzV-03_ySLysb0Q34uUEwyvKrDZkJheB2mGv2EQFxziUBDsECNmlA/s1600/critron.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhml5LfVJa_n1xoFLxNAMB2izsyOCbIHnEqb4qWUciUI8uUo9Wd4F4ItWpXiokza-59M-MaMYq-DLCmYYTY4UW9AvHzV-03_ySLysb0Q34uUEwyvKrDZkJheB2mGv2EQFxziUBDsECNmlA/s1600/critron.jpg" height="222" width="320" /></a></div>
My critron. I was going to make it double this size (ha!) but each row was taking about 20-30 minutes at this point, and I don't love it now like I did when I started. I just did a few more rows of the last ruffle and finished. It needs a serious blocking, and then I'll probably give it away.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEeXtNbW0D-phlXP1ekAt5JHTZHIi99UVSgQGUE83xfks-cCmBix-9rHo1wnqXizJlPUVVfdtbo38xnK5y5IVgK_ZtJxAYeC3Lvv3GVmMOoI9fQTqM1OI3QXucoGuL6I_gZ3i3KbCDD1M/s1600/hoodedscarf.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEeXtNbW0D-phlXP1ekAt5JHTZHIi99UVSgQGUE83xfks-cCmBix-9rHo1wnqXizJlPUVVfdtbo38xnK5y5IVgK_ZtJxAYeC3Lvv3GVmMOoI9fQTqM1OI3QXucoGuL6I_gZ3i3KbCDD1M/s1600/hoodedscarf.jpg" height="244" width="320" /></a></div>
This was going to be a cape, but I did the weirdest shaping and it was turning out terribly. I could have made it a nicer cape now, but I just decided I didn't want to bother any more. I pulled apart the weirdest join I've ever done and just added a scarf to the hood. Andrew says I look like some kind of elf, which I can live with. No idea what I'll do with this.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2cMAhkcQ2AcB1GoWMFbAy2RW5jdT0sIxGPBi0glRXKEUTMdmuv-ss9xA03tl2fIzNoIHYzwDyaDjEz61wDldmsiRje6omuNriQ7llCHs8Y1JjitWUZdjUXp2-rWSeJFaW-4g3ZH1eWms/s1600/whitebeadedthing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2cMAhkcQ2AcB1GoWMFbAy2RW5jdT0sIxGPBi0glRXKEUTMdmuv-ss9xA03tl2fIzNoIHYzwDyaDjEz61wDldmsiRje6omuNriQ7llCHs8Y1JjitWUZdjUXp2-rWSeJFaW-4g3ZH1eWms/s1600/whitebeadedthing.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
This was originally going to be my veil, then I decided I didn't like the pattern or the choice of yarn (cotton for a veil? Nope!) so it was going to be a shawl. But I wasn't really loving it, so I just finished off the row. I'll block it and it can be a table decoration or something.<br />
<br />
That's all the finished stuff for now, but I've made some real progress on other projects, too. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBjnYTKsIqylq0ZjWpz8CDQ6_RhUtXw7ScgPsjcXquN_iWHG3MmDMdrv0OuhQay5npbhHMbJUYd7aGGVBz2M8aZp5JHSCVgbLHnYR9pMjto4RIiEsg5kd3i0AHlspu9UPaa_cLj65BF0E/s1600/confectionary3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBjnYTKsIqylq0ZjWpz8CDQ6_RhUtXw7ScgPsjcXquN_iWHG3MmDMdrv0OuhQay5npbhHMbJUYd7aGGVBz2M8aZp5JHSCVgbLHnYR9pMjto4RIiEsg5kd3i0AHlspu9UPaa_cLj65BF0E/s1600/confectionary3.jpg" height="320" width="258" /></a></div>
This is the Christmas present sweater for my best friend. I finally finished the collar and have now moved on to sleeves. Here's hoping I don't have to pull them out 3 times like I did the collar. This also clearly needs some blocking, but that will wait until the whole thing is done. The goal is to have it done for the Christmas party I'm hosting on Saturday. Totally do-able!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyyqaxul7Ux6gnnSLk1my-qj867QUnvub6Sp2797eshLiBtl2dwDuJZbJBAql0yib0VNWVCkCcXUNmJVv5Edg1ylvGlr4FE8wHv7cdcWzqFA5RTX4s21_2wTMfyr46lJ8Pv5uSprMML40/s1600/heartsweater2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyyqaxul7Ux6gnnSLk1my-qj867QUnvub6Sp2797eshLiBtl2dwDuJZbJBAql0yib0VNWVCkCcXUNmJVv5Edg1ylvGlr4FE8wHv7cdcWzqFA5RTX4s21_2wTMfyr46lJ8Pv5uSprMML40/s1600/heartsweater2.jpg" height="244" width="320" /></a></div>
I'm a little bit in love with this sweater. I'm completely deviating from my original plan and I love it. Since it's tunisian, I can do traditional fair isle-style colourwork. Yes please!<br />
I was working on it at a gathering this weekend and people kept asking if it was for a kid. No way, this colour scheme might be a bit young but it is all for me!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLx6Ag9j5X-GrGUfJJOyGlq3kFPxN3sM9v7Pr7vpS18sRTljeZ_g0ugd3cJ62UPVMstc0ADliyiHhTB29BDMmioXP4ap9CLX7Zsnknnj9Jl-g2KaCCVRxMh77qkvDlSScJ8XjohgB0RXQ/s1600/heartsweater.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLx6Ag9j5X-GrGUfJJOyGlq3kFPxN3sM9v7Pr7vpS18sRTljeZ_g0ugd3cJ62UPVMstc0ADliyiHhTB29BDMmioXP4ap9CLX7Zsnknnj9Jl-g2KaCCVRxMh77qkvDlSScJ8XjohgB0RXQ/s1600/heartsweater.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
I love the vivid hearts and am having so much fun. I'm gonna do another row of the little hearts, then a bit of geometric shape stuff, then maybe another heart row and a few hearts going up the front of the cardigan from here. Who knows- at this point, I'm just having fun with it!<br />
<br />
I hope you're all staying as cheerful as you can in this dark, cold time of year (well, for us Northern Hemisphere folks anyhow). Happy holidays, all!<br />

First, this is the new vase my lovely best friend got me for Christmas, sitting on top of the gorgeous end table my brother in law made us. So many handmade things are starting to appear in our house! I love it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbBK0Fvwtwym3S8Y8Vmy2tS7oN49_CggU2l3_lSxY3Cs367uovEFK5KZ2i1jGa-EabJeAG2veSmfdoFoO1G4sz9wUvUA3gYi6ovar_j5RJzSNhuiw_edfGM_fv6GeWUGenMOdNPKq8g_o/s1600/confectionary2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbBK0Fvwtwym3S8Y8Vmy2tS7oN49_CggU2l3_lSxY3Cs367uovEFK5KZ2i1jGa-EabJeAG2veSmfdoFoO1G4sz9wUvUA3gYi6ovar_j5RJzSNhuiw_edfGM_fv6GeWUGenMOdNPKq8g_o/s1600/confectionary2.jpg" height="293" width="320" /></a></div>
And some wip stuff- this is the cardigan I've been designing, and also the Christmas present of said friend. I finally finished the body, now I'm on to the collar. Then all that's left will be the sleeves and sewing on the closures! I want to finish it for her for actually Christmas, because it means I can also get the testing started. I'm really excited about publishing this one.<br />
<br />

This is the insane fingering weight cardi I've been making myself for what seems like a million years. No pattern on this one, although I really ought to write more of these. Still, it's just nice to have a cardi where I can plod about a little aimlessly and not worry too much. I'm really happy with how it's turning out, and I can't wait to see it finished.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikEDhzqyWUvBQ2K6JOWkJvHJkOa2ed8gpSBFqp_EmlBc_BBKTxkR6KHT7Dfx7CeSH-4COPu1pVD-iYiDDXnmsSvmrFtSWFZGusgJXPpFeGgVSq5z1vNpy0qXZlOm3C5Q7ypo64BQlcTwk/s1600/projectstofinish.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikEDhzqyWUvBQ2K6JOWkJvHJkOa2ed8gpSBFqp_EmlBc_BBKTxkR6KHT7Dfx7CeSH-4COPu1pVD-iYiDDXnmsSvmrFtSWFZGusgJXPpFeGgVSq5z1vNpy0qXZlOm3C5Q7ypo64BQlcTwk/s1600/projectstofinish.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
This is what inspired me to write a post today, though. Well, not that mess above. It was actually this <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/61994932345477419/" target="_blank">pin</a> I spotted today. I wanted to see what it would look like if I took a picture of all my wips. All of them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8qhU5TsV7SIUguwGUAqe_6_KN39YwiXdu1szE6oquyZwQkzir2ap7P0Ekfhoys3aqozesnsRSMcCkAMvTBpVwimH3Ui9EHZOnVsuYpbU5Kctvgd960U4Bt_JYskJDzWLkI3Upk74BQ_M/s1600/projectstofinish1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8qhU5TsV7SIUguwGUAqe_6_KN39YwiXdu1szE6oquyZwQkzir2ap7P0Ekfhoys3aqozesnsRSMcCkAMvTBpVwimH3Ui9EHZOnVsuYpbU5Kctvgd960U4Bt_JYskJDzWLkI3Upk74BQ_M/s1600/projectstofinish1.jpg" height="186" width="320" /></a></div>
It looks like this big mess! Sure, some of them are hibernating... but it's still too much. So my resolution, starting now (no time like the present!) is to get down to only 7 wips. I don't mind having lots of wips, but there are 20 (plus one different kind of project) and that's too many even for me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1PgzNUdTInexInffj8GVr64hqw8GSHcv5V7HaO0ldt3PPyZoGL06uFG_kUW2EExnvwHV6J-lwC1_ywVeAY0XyneIyTKQN3MjABYk2cf7lfomhQQ3-Sf4ZgonmwLUAkfSueDFqZYG6rjw/s1600/projectstofinish1numbered.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1PgzNUdTInexInffj8GVr64hqw8GSHcv5V7HaO0ldt3PPyZoGL06uFG_kUW2EExnvwHV6J-lwC1_ywVeAY0XyneIyTKQN3MjABYk2cf7lfomhQQ3-Sf4ZgonmwLUAkfSueDFqZYG6rjw/s1600/projectstofinish1numbered.jpg" height="186" width="320" /></a></div>
So here they are numbered, and here's the plan of action:<br />
#1- my critron! I was going to make this huge, but it is teeny yarn and sloooow going. I haven't worked on it in ages, I don't really want to work on it. I'll finish a few more rows then end it as a small shawlette. Giving it away.<br />
#2- laceweight cardigan, what was I thinking. I want to make some serious progress on this. Even if I don't finish it this year, I want to at least get several inches done and importantly, pull out the old cardigan so the second ball of yarn is ready.<br />
#3- Hood. It was going to be a cape, but I'm going to add a quick scarf to it and call it done. Giving it away.<br />
#4- Neon socks. These I've barely started, but they're a quick project.<br />
#5- Heart sweater. It's a pretty tunisian project and I'd like to start it up again. It's going to have colourwork hearts on it.<br />
#6- Drape front cardi. I'm working on this all the time, so it'll be finished soon!<br />
#7- This is a tablecloth my great grandmother made. It's now stained and dirty, with lots of holes. My mom gave it to me to repair, so it's a different kind of project and something I'll just get to one day.<br />
#8- My doily project. It's a long term thing, so I'm not too worried.<br />
#9- Baseball tee! I'm going to bring this on vacation. I'm so psyched to have this finished object, though it's not the most fun to work on.<br />
#10- This was going to be my veil originally. Now I think I'll just finish it and have it as a nice table centrepiece.<br />
#11- This is a shawl I'm making my cousin, and I'd like it to be part of her wedding gift. She's getting married next year.<br />
#12- This is an insane top I pull out once in awhile. I'll be bringing it on vacation too.<br />
#13- I started this shrug as a store sample and just bought the yarn and took it home when the store closed. So I'll be finishing it some day soon. <br />
#14- This is a shawl I'm also excited to finish because it will be simple and cozy and warm<br />
#15- These are totally crazy shorts that I'm not sure I'll ever finish.... but they're fun.<br />
#16- This is the cardigan I'm making my friend, so hopefully it'll be done within the next 2 weeks.<br />
#17- I have to get back to this cardigan! It's going to be great.<br />
#18- This is just a plain granny scarf I'm just working on for fun. I'm not too worried about when it gets done.<br />
#19- This is the fake chainmail I'm making for a costume to wear next year for con season. It just needs to be a bit long and have long sleeves. It's on a huge hook, so it'll be quick.<br />#20- I've been making this blanket forever. I need to make 7 more large squares, and then it should be a reasonable size. No more motif blankets!<br />
#21- The dress I wanted to wear to my big brother's wedding last year. I ended up deciding spending the time with my nephews would be a better idea, so I just want to finish it to wear this year! It's already a long tank, so it won't be too much longer.<br />
<br />
Alright... wish me luck!Lynn Sibleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651175106466351323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6496062654649237250.post-27802823382058070892014-12-04T13:14:00.000-05:002014-12-04T13:14:22.721-05:00A Long, Dark MonthHello my hooky people. Apologies for the absence. It's been a long month for me. There's been some bad news and discouraging job hunting, but it's mostly just been one of those months where it doesn't quite matter what happens, you're gonna be a bit bummed out. Thanks, brain!<br />
I've gotten a lot of crochet done, though. As usual, my yarn always cheers me up immensely!<br />
<br />

This is a little baby jacket I made for a friend and fellow crafter who's having a little girl. I was sooo excited to make something pinky and ruffly!<br />

And putting little heart elbow patches on was irresistible. I have this pattern written up, I just need to get to testing it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9_bWBXqp8GxaEcu3ZA-mHvJ5osaI-uisMdE7yO07XaiWHD1PDhq3Yw7Ot8kpbpHsCdKgLzb9sn-PtE4WSody-zuRMVK3F1pOrvWXt6a6IKmUfzVSIZLUoVv_CrdCRwnPAmyyC1MnYfY4/s1600/legwarmers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9_bWBXqp8GxaEcu3ZA-mHvJ5osaI-uisMdE7yO07XaiWHD1PDhq3Yw7Ot8kpbpHsCdKgLzb9sn-PtE4WSody-zuRMVK3F1pOrvWXt6a6IKmUfzVSIZLUoVv_CrdCRwnPAmyyC1MnYfY4/s1600/legwarmers.jpg" height="281" width="320" /></a></div>
These legwarmers were inspired by all the knitted neutral legwarmers I kept seeing on Pinterest. I love them, but since knitting needles and I are not bffs, slip stitch came to the rescue. I'm pretty happy with the way the calf increases went- I like the look they have that reminds me a bit of knotty wood.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBkviB-p9IrbbnL39KakCu4RqTzlswV7Nr7CYzAVUtq_zonMcVgoCumjmMh4dfCEeR9sE4eNagJdHjNLOwVrXMHsmswZsKunI4efIuZo6X-ja8dGjJrTXhl9-CzygDnYqjpD5iW0PrsO8/s1600/puffhat1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBkviB-p9IrbbnL39KakCu4RqTzlswV7Nr7CYzAVUtq_zonMcVgoCumjmMh4dfCEeR9sE4eNagJdHjNLOwVrXMHsmswZsKunI4efIuZo6X-ja8dGjJrTXhl9-CzygDnYqjpD5iW0PrsO8/s1600/puffhat1.jpg" height="269" width="320" /></a></div>
This hat is my new favourite! I took the awesome pattern, and modified it so that it used slip stitches instead of sc, and added a blo slip stitch ribbed edge. The pompom is from the notions market in Shanghai, and it's real rabbit fur, which makes it soooo soft!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTwjJTIKcg85UpFd46P5komaXkzgyeynigPiV18YiJJLHYt9SMxBPhUeXdOuFLWlfcMu-4IeSKLh7FiBO_TDKGz54UTk8rjmoxmTtnWT3QIMw5YOlmtC0hW8mCaQRb2E0aQ3rP5ynNcK0/s1600/rainbowdoilies1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTwjJTIKcg85UpFd46P5komaXkzgyeynigPiV18YiJJLHYt9SMxBPhUeXdOuFLWlfcMu-4IeSKLh7FiBO_TDKGz54UTk8rjmoxmTtnWT3QIMw5YOlmtC0hW8mCaQRb2E0aQ3rP5ynNcK0/s1600/rainbowdoilies1.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
I am super excited about this cheerful project. I'm making a series of doilies in rainbow colours, then I'm going to mount and hang them. I'm not quite sure how, but I'm thinking either embroidery hoops or canvases painted a nice slate grey.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZosQ8rInp8mRVBR28EFPCNrgzH73jCyLLKeiD_KXuJcYthArEPx8T6_xCXV0VOtCSBGyj6DIBBF2dOAypU414IoXOuDw8i7cVkBUHoV7927iMJdN3deadyXx_bJj1lFpjScnN9L4rD3k/s1600/rainbowdoilies2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZosQ8rInp8mRVBR28EFPCNrgzH73jCyLLKeiD_KXuJcYthArEPx8T6_xCXV0VOtCSBGyj6DIBBF2dOAypU414IoXOuDw8i7cVkBUHoV7927iMJdN3deadyXx_bJj1lFpjScnN9L4rD3k/s1600/rainbowdoilies2.jpg" height="278" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Either way, I'm excited to make doilies which I find quite fun, and excited about the colours. I love rainbows. This yarn is from a new yarn/fabric shop in my neighborhood, which is also quite exciting. They don't carry a lot of fun yarn- baby stuff and a bit of basic wool- but it's really nice to have something in walking distance. They do have some pretty nice crochet cotton, as you can see!<br />
I also got a whole boatload of white #20 cotton to do snowflakes. I have this grand multiple year plan that will eventually result in a pretty garland of tons of different kinds of snowflakes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsBVSjmH-0KhsKHHeX2lcRDjzol63uxwx7sSZSj4aUTe8YzBI0xXyZNtkbVS9NCuesyAPaD_SFGd8dJpa26HakRAu9RsjVC_mm7IfSLJXfv2Qe1ayUiEACRcT1uKlonZ30PPIMUh2Kd0I/s1600/socktest.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsBVSjmH-0KhsKHHeX2lcRDjzol63uxwx7sSZSj4aUTe8YzBI0xXyZNtkbVS9NCuesyAPaD_SFGd8dJpa26HakRAu9RsjVC_mm7IfSLJXfv2Qe1ayUiEACRcT1uKlonZ30PPIMUh2Kd0I/s1600/socktest.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
These socks were done for a test, and I love the pattern. It's very clever- I was amazed by how the cables were done, and she had the most clever method for seaming blo ribbing. <br />I got the gauge wrong, so these are a bit too tight for me. I'm gonna make another pair for me with a few mods- I prefer alternating rows of f/iB slip stitch on the sole to get a nice flat and untextured sole, and I'll do the heel in sl st instead of sc because I just like it better. I'll also make them taller, because I'm a big fan of nice and tall socks.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm8haOzbOjjnA0_A87EilCl37n6u-q7WmMIy61EkT4gltXTFCRN0nCHMBEASXIinEB7k6zzSy0NV61SaIG9jEs50ThoLXt5vlYTmHQzq9cBlKoEG0Do6dv3ltvs7sPAa3yxG1cU5irQBw/s1600/stripeymitts1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm8haOzbOjjnA0_A87EilCl37n6u-q7WmMIy61EkT4gltXTFCRN0nCHMBEASXIinEB7k6zzSy0NV61SaIG9jEs50ThoLXt5vlYTmHQzq9cBlKoEG0Do6dv3ltvs7sPAa3yxG1cU5irQBw/s1600/stripeymitts1.jpg" height="250" width="320" /></a></div>
And these pretties are my most recent project! I love these mitts, they're going to be so warm. They're double stranded and 100% alpaca. Yum. The fabric biases a bit, so unfortunately I should have made the top increases on a slightly different angle; blocking helped, and I'm hoping that will correct itself with wear.<br />
Still, my old mitts were getting ragged and holey, so it's nice to have a new pair!<br />

Lately, I've been pulling out a lot of projects that I started, did a small amount of work on for about one day, then never entered into Ravelry and let languish.<br />
The pink shawl above (<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/leaflines-shawlette" target="_blank">Leaflines</a>) is a good example. Did the first 10 or so rows, put it aside and forgot about it for months. Finally I pulled it out. Now it's finished and waiting to be blocked.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjujhcCNf3xPKtLrmUhUbY7O6BJ1Imy9T3WuGVkgemeJ-TFp-9xZwoKQOekjwyUSwBThv_VpSoFbp6cGGS7vA2gRQ3YnJUFK9zzcd0ePw3zfUeYs_h65vSvVDoMVWK3D1Z9noKathFadno/s1600/yellowbasketweave.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjujhcCNf3xPKtLrmUhUbY7O6BJ1Imy9T3WuGVkgemeJ-TFp-9xZwoKQOekjwyUSwBThv_VpSoFbp6cGGS7vA2gRQ3YnJUFK9zzcd0ePw3zfUeYs_h65vSvVDoMVWK3D1Z9noKathFadno/s1600/yellowbasketweave.jpg" height="253" width="320" /></a></div>
This stash buster baby blanket is another. It's just a simply basketweave to use up this pretty but boring acrylic I had in my stash. I knocked it off the list, too.<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhep5Mkbs3YWwxiQfcLI8lbTNr63IW4lAscQpD10lyIBpEUuTKAOQjDGWVb_kowqxBf9rVDbIDFphpyo0moGQGKupL4wlPuFkCYU5vwSvl19OFQDlMKr3DOobvLek-mbdsuwkTagM86Y74/s1600/handspunhat3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhep5Mkbs3YWwxiQfcLI8lbTNr63IW4lAscQpD10lyIBpEUuTKAOQjDGWVb_kowqxBf9rVDbIDFphpyo0moGQGKupL4wlPuFkCYU5vwSvl19OFQDlMKr3DOobvLek-mbdsuwkTagM86Y74/s1600/handspunhat3.jpg" height="320" width="268" /></a></div>
<br />
But that's not the only kind of project I've done. This hat is two of my handspun yarns. While I was in China, I kept thinking about combining them. I didn't really have enough of either for much of a project, and I thought the thick and thin blue merino would compliment the pink silk nicely. I'm pretty happy with it, though having trouble finding shawls and scarves in my collection to go with the colours. They're much more bold together than I expected.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcx-w2Jh_Vs8LsSwpfMO-Mw3EvKYN4bUW2oTsAJxoVYy0yYBAGEotKd2IkywyTcnWRGi7SbSEvJQdW3UrN5Cq4AnPO5bzCAk1wI2a8A7yjgMHRZ0VUXE-8V6BO1vt14jOdbNU9GydOD6w/s1600/silkscarf2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcx-w2Jh_Vs8LsSwpfMO-Mw3EvKYN4bUW2oTsAJxoVYy0yYBAGEotKd2IkywyTcnWRGi7SbSEvJQdW3UrN5Cq4AnPO5bzCAk1wI2a8A7yjgMHRZ0VUXE-8V6BO1vt14jOdbNU9GydOD6w/s1600/silkscarf2.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
This is my Pinterest silk scarf. The main leaf pattern is a chart I saw posted, and the edging was a picture that promised a link to a chart but lead nowhere. So I sat down and charted it out. I'm reasonably happy with it- I made a note or two of things I'd do differently if I followed it again, but the scarf itself is a pretty, decorative little thing and I quite like it. It was a nice travel project.<br />
I looove the yarn colour, too. That almost-turquoise blue is one of my favorites.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieH5LSIokH2BEyV4SgRbzstaDuZQcsmj5h71nbKEZNm762Z-2aS5VhaDWj23sAQ9GfUcX1CVSpco0srFzUpfzEGhL3J2pQRrSttFwjtknaHdLKpAUGNPBHpluCW_rOzYmN3sURniEiznU/s1600/pinkgrey4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieH5LSIokH2BEyV4SgRbzstaDuZQcsmj5h71nbKEZNm762Z-2aS5VhaDWj23sAQ9GfUcX1CVSpco0srFzUpfzEGhL3J2pQRrSttFwjtknaHdLKpAUGNPBHpluCW_rOzYmN3sURniEiznU/s1600/pinkgrey4.jpg" height="270" width="320" /></a> </div>
This shawl I am very proud of. It's something I mostly did while I was in China. It's such a simple pattern, but the edging took some serious fidgeting and frogging. I still might have changed it a wee bit if I went back, but on the whole I just love it. The shape is great- if you wear it on your shoulders, it just nicely covers your upper arms. As someone with perpetually cold upper arms, I'm very happy about that.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJTarhU6CuEflBoHCKNcrgX8I-vWCpsajz7ViT3E-mbqkNT027h_RGqOwgtmEeyFpIuZyr7nzOvK4XJO48zcWa8try7HSpAEUBgVDnkcAqUAZdJ3-N1R__hAJG9zW2zq4Q4lNX6-d5xG8/s1600/pinkgrey3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJTarhU6CuEflBoHCKNcrgX8I-vWCpsajz7ViT3E-mbqkNT027h_RGqOwgtmEeyFpIuZyr7nzOvK4XJO48zcWa8try7HSpAEUBgVDnkcAqUAZdJ3-N1R__hAJG9zW2zq4Q4lNX6-d5xG8/s1600/pinkgrey3.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
Now I need to write up the pattern. I intend to have this pattern for sale soon, I just need to put it through some testing. The nice thing about it is that I figured it out for basically any yarn weight- the edging can be repeated after a set number of rows, and after that it can be added after a repeating number of rows. So you can add it the first time after so many rows, and then you have the chance to add it every 20 rows after. So theoretically you can make it as big as you want.<br />
I'm pretty excited about it, and some of the other patterns I've got coming up. Now to do the hard part and get to work!Lynn Sibleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651175106466351323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6496062654649237250.post-48887680228418143922014-10-10T13:10:00.002-04:002014-10-10T13:10:18.469-04:00A Yarnilicious ReturnSo I've been home a few weeks now, and it's been so great to pick up my life again. I missed my friends a lot while I was gone, not to mention my home and my stuff and, ya know, my husband.<br />
It's nice to have a husband again. It's really nice. I didn't realize quite how much I missed having people to talk to until I had them again.<br />
It's been crazy since I've gotten back, with parties and pub nights and getting my house all scrubbed and nice and starting job applications. I got to see the nephews at a family party last weekend, and I see them again tomorrow. I didn't quite realize how much I missed them until I got to see them again. All my stories are about them. My poor friends who don't like kids have suffered through my first weeks back.<br />
<br />
I've been on a total baking spree the last few days. It started with meringues, then I did some apple chips, then chai spiced pear applesauce, and a ton more apple chips. Sadly, my last batch of apple chips burnt but I have another in the oven right now. I'm almost prepared for Thanksgiving and very excited to go up to the family cottage and spend time with the family. This includes both my darling little monkeys and my brother and sister in law, who for some reason usually don't make it, and some good yarn time with my dad's cousin's wife, a most excellent knitter. <br />
But I still have stuff to do, so I'm going to stop babbling and leave you all with pictures of the yarn I got in China.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXti1v9X2vUNMHUPTlMrtdzHdhh_4im2PuFEMaod-YbbX8fIL3Gg2-OrjVP6xOCsI7cOg3Mg8_AIk-j_3hwrqF7Yy8WUtfmkHVlAPUgOYPt7Vx8MJ9rd47bKLGjQkUhD-kaWnVfJvcENg/s1600/chinayarn.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXti1v9X2vUNMHUPTlMrtdzHdhh_4im2PuFEMaod-YbbX8fIL3Gg2-OrjVP6xOCsI7cOg3Mg8_AIk-j_3hwrqF7Yy8WUtfmkHVlAPUgOYPt7Vx8MJ9rd47bKLGjQkUhD-kaWnVfJvcENg/s1600/chinayarn.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
Here it is in all it's glory- all the yarn I got. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Here is the naked picture of samples of almost all of the yarn.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The grey at the bottom and the teeny cone above it are my cashmere. Drool. You hold the little cone alongside the big one as you work, it adds strength to the garment. I can't wait to make a sweater. Now I just have to decide what type of sweater I want.<br />
The blue and white on the right side are pretty wool fingering weight yarn. I'm going to make a tunisian colourwork sweater with a snowflake pattern using that yarn. I am very excited about it.<br />
<br />

On the left are the shiny pretty lurex sparkle cones I got. I'm going to hold them alongside other yarns for shawls. It'll be so pretty! The variegated blue is dk weight yarn I'm going to use for a baby sweater. The two cones at the bottom, the yellow and grey, are things I ordered on Taobao. They're not quite what I expected, but they're very soft and pretty. I was hoping to have enough for a sweater but I'm not sure I do (I have about 350 g of grey and 100g of yellow). Oh well, I can always make a pretty shawl with those colours.<br />
<br />

And here you can see the pink and grey I showed last post, as well as some of the nice plain grey dk/worsteds I bought. The fluffy white is the free yarn I got on my big yarn adventure with the Shanghai knitters, and the pink is the gorgeous silk I got the same day.<br />
<br />
I also took some pictures of my latest projects, but that will have to wait for another post. Happy Thanksgiving!Lynn Sibleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651175106466351323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6496062654649237250.post-36774388525117890802014-08-26T10:54:00.000-04:002014-08-26T10:57:27.246-04:00Hello From ShanghaiIt's been a busy month for me. Well, I don't think busy quite covers spending every day with a 2 year old and a 3.5 year old. Crazy. Exhausting. Repetitive. Cute.<br />
<br />
China has been good. Tiring. It's difficult when you only speak 10 words of the language. Even though I'm just with the boys most of the time, my sister-in-law's mother is here and while her English is much better than my Mandarin, we don't have a common language.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCm8GXeRSsUvGyOftKS3tSMU7k-EkQs2JOD4wo3_97va7TGaiqVIcQnL0kZR586jG2zgT5-RdsXBPxWDAe-Yn2Eh-IjixPYNkcZbyM17mvU23KHGHXOK5qExGmfMHkvNiyHxUrhk1rNjQ/s1600/P8020128.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCm8GXeRSsUvGyOftKS3tSMU7k-EkQs2JOD4wo3_97va7TGaiqVIcQnL0kZR586jG2zgT5-RdsXBPxWDAe-Yn2Eh-IjixPYNkcZbyM17mvU23KHGHXOK5qExGmfMHkvNiyHxUrhk1rNjQ/s1600/P8020128.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
Still, it's been good. And there are yarn stores. Walking distance. And incredibly cheap online shopping. It's been very tempting. This grey and pink I got almost as soon as I arrived as a birthday present from my brother and sister in law. My brother and I wandered out to the shops one night and he got me this.<br />
It says it's wool/silk/cashmere, but it clearly has some nylon in it. Still, it's so soft and lovely.<br />

<br />
I'm making a shawl with it. I'm not done the first two balls and it's already quite big. I'm striping the body, then using a third ball to make a feather and fan edging in the pink.<br />
I'm also writing up the pattern for it. It's quite simple, but something that can easily be worked in any weight yarn.<br />
I went back to the shops and bought some more yarn- just simple grey worsted/dks to go with some of the brightly coloured stuff I have at home. Cardigans!<br />
<br />
We took a trip to Inner Mongolia, and while shopping for wool stuff for sister-in-law's sister, we happened into a yarn store. I couldn't resist some cashmere. It's also in grey, and enough for a sweater. It came with 6 balls, and each has not only fine weight yarn to hold along for strength but also sewing thread weight yarn. It also came with knitting needles, not that I need them. It was 400 RMB, so about 70$. For a whole sweater. Yum. Also picked up some nice plain green wool to make my nephew some mittens. He's excited. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Then on the weekend I had my first day off! It was amazing. I met up with 4 Ravelers for a day trip. One of them had a van and driver and we set off to the warehouse of an online yarn store.<br />
It was so much fun confusing the poor, kind driver with our weird yarn shopping, browsing the rather amazing warehouse, finding the bargains, spending time with English-speaking adults and not answering "why?" every five minutes.<br />
I had a great day, and managed to be reasonable with my spending. You can see what I got above. The shiney lurex cones were only 5 RMB each (less than a dollar) and I am excited to hold them along with something to make a glitzy shawl. The fluffy white yarn they gave me for free because it was the last of something they decided was too sheddy. The stitch markers and snag fixer likewise were free.<br />
The pink silk was my big thing- they made me a cone of 3 plys/400g- I'd say it's heavy laceweight, and it's so lovely. It was RMB 8/50g... so my whole cone was 64 RMB, or about 12$.<br />
<br />
It was really hard not to buy more. Some of the other women got amazing cashmeres and merinos and just gorgeous stuff. The bargains, I tell you.<br />
I really enjoyed the entire day, and I left with not only bargains but some new friends. They met up the next day too, but I had to help look after the boys, and I've been fighting a rather nasty cold off so one day just about did me in.<br />
<br />
Well, it's time for bed. Little monkeys wake up early! Hopefully I'll have more yarny pictures next time.Lynn Sibleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651175106466351323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6496062654649237250.post-52055647851573351322014-07-25T10:06:00.001-04:002014-07-25T10:06:15.903-04:00Off on an Adventure<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Life has been very, very busy for me lately, and this may be my last post for quite some time.<br />
I've been preparing for a very big adventure.<br />
<br />
Before I tell you all about it, I want to share what I've been working on lately.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl6I6Nlf2_JT8qua7512m1NLwAtyBAbRRiz_b7hAyJnHdCkM1x7EZd52qFWt7PhpuOo_2srZeYKxs5li3Msp64MN6A08aNHOejkFBwyc4dfY96q7d4LTiy7tvy3jVFCqj0uEXziFubLV4/s1600/sewingcorner.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl6I6Nlf2_JT8qua7512m1NLwAtyBAbRRiz_b7hAyJnHdCkM1x7EZd52qFWt7PhpuOo_2srZeYKxs5li3Msp64MN6A08aNHOejkFBwyc4dfY96q7d4LTiy7tvy3jVFCqj0uEXziFubLV4/s1600/sewingcorner.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
This is my little sewing corner a week or two ago, preparing to make a bag. My poor plant has died already (I try, but I am just not good at plants), but I still love that corner. After my last apartment where I didn't have a table and had to sew on the coffee table, an area where I can lay out my cutting mat and sewing machine and have all my shelves of stuff behind is just so lovely.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjU57nAm6ytyy9zu68umUUsRe_4cWR412o68uT8hKzkLwD6AWDHFi4suLIoL8uqKGv6uZSos-Um6U1nTaerMMNnU-Hb7mLPZ6Hif1UO-sQSRT-y_80Q8d-_u1Y3JfSBKbgiYog4DyZKLxg/s1600/yarnbasket2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjU57nAm6ytyy9zu68umUUsRe_4cWR412o68uT8hKzkLwD6AWDHFi4suLIoL8uqKGv6uZSos-Um6U1nTaerMMNnU-Hb7mLPZ6Hif1UO-sQSRT-y_80Q8d-_u1Y3JfSBKbgiYog4DyZKLxg/s1600/yarnbasket2.jpg" height="279" width="320" /></a></div>
This is my sewing project that day- a yarn bag! It's lovely, a bit bigger than planned but it holds a lot of stuff. I need to use a bit more yarn and get everything onto my shelves, then this will be turned into my wip basket.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I still had a scrap of leather from my purse, so I made a leather handle for it.<br />

Here is the second ARG plushie for Andrew's second book kickstarter. He's hanging out with the first ARG since the guy who got ARG number one took a long, long time to decide on some of his rewards.<br />
They aren't my favorite thing to make, but I do love how silly they are. It's fun to pose them!<br />
<br />

This is a pair of socks I've been working on. They're awesome! They go all the way up to my calves. I like a good long pair of socks.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBpN1y6FS6Z-YREQQ9kCodJRE3_RRSWYtyd3OhpK9-Rk-RQ6gzgPEWJ_q-6ykNmjA_tudKmJT4WjtVUDYbR6Dc8t8tA8OCkNe2ZkuSxJs6PAop7Oxf-jP9IZRih9_mvyXnfsjULM7UsWw/s1600/neonsocks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBpN1y6FS6Z-YREQQ9kCodJRE3_RRSWYtyd3OhpK9-Rk-RQ6gzgPEWJ_q-6ykNmjA_tudKmJT4WjtVUDYbR6Dc8t8tA8OCkNe2ZkuSxJs6PAop7Oxf-jP9IZRih9_mvyXnfsjULM7UsWw/s1600/neonsocks.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
And here's the newest pair- started before finishing the old one, because last night at my knit night the three of us who bought Fluormania on the knit along started our crazy socks together. They are delightfully retina-searing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is just my luscious treat project. The yarn is a vivid tropical ocean blue, and it's 100% silk. I loved two stitch patterns I found on Pinterest- <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/572872015073675110/" target="_blank">this</a> one and <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/572872015073675103/" target="_blank">this</a> one. The first has a chart, but the second seems to have vanished off the internet. So I set about drawing out a chart combining the two.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUAbOPVtOhsySRC2hjCADXQ6bXbCLOpg0UDDsRwHSOUBQdvLU2YLBApmmG1S-FoCar8rNQ33vSowk7RE8p5eS8jD-eK9sNDx4QBcifkgaQ3P4qZ9v2hd4wIYMHTUGrnNqzkzcimAzrkHk/s1600/lacscarf2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUAbOPVtOhsySRC2hjCADXQ6bXbCLOpg0UDDsRwHSOUBQdvLU2YLBApmmG1S-FoCar8rNQ33vSowk7RE8p5eS8jD-eK9sNDx4QBcifkgaQ3P4qZ9v2hd4wIYMHTUGrnNqzkzcimAzrkHk/s1600/lacscarf2.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
I'm quite happy with the result. I can't wait 'til it's finished and blocked. It's going to be lovely.<br />
<br />
<br />
Alright, now you're caught up on most of what I'm working on.<br />
My big adventure starts next Tuesday, when I'll be flying off for 7 weeks in China! I'll be staying in Shanghai with my big brother, my sister in law and my two adorable nephews. I'll be visiting and helping look after the boys and who knows what else while I'm there.<br />
I can't wait. I've gotten my ticket, my travel insurance, my visa, my vaccinations, a whole drug store worth of stuff I might need, my packing list is started, I've got a new sketchbook and even a list of what projects I should probably bring.<br />
That is definitely tricky- I need to pack 7 weeks of crochet. I'm packing a lot of light weight stuff. Fingering and lace weight projects, for the most part. I'm also worrying a bit about books. My plan right now is to pack enough for the plane rides, and then just try checking out ebooks from the library on my laptop if I need something to read while I'm there. I thought about getting an ereader, but I don't really want one for every day so it seems a bit silly.<br />
<br />
I can't wait. I'm excited and very nervous. I've been trying to learn a bit of Mandarin, so hopefully I will at least pick up a few more sentences while I'm there. I'm so excited to see my family again, especially the boys. I haven't seen them since January, and they are both under 4. They change so quickly! It will be so wonderful to get to know them so well while they're still very little. I can't wait for bedtime stories and snuggles and playing.<br />
I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the summer, and perhaps I'll be able to make a post or two while I'm away. Now I'm going to enjoy a quiet day, my nice cup of tea and some Netflix and crochet. It's a lot of fun- this is the second year I've gone. <br />
I was on team Lace with a couple of friends- some I knew would be on my team, but there were some familiar faces among the people I didn't sign up with.<br />
<br />
We went to 4 yarn stores around the city with our group before all the groups met up at the Rivoli afterwards for a few drinks and door prizes.<br />

It was a bit crowded with our whole group, but it's a lovely little store. All the staff were so nice, and they were sweet enough to give us a goody bag with a skein of yarn in it! I ended up buying a second skein in a different colour so I can make a shawl with it, and I also picked up a crochet hook I needed.<br />
<br />

We had a great time pawing through all the gorgeous stuff- I was very, very tempted by some amazing 100% silk they had, but managed to stick on budget.<br />
<br />

My friends Alia and Kara- Alia just came over and blocked her shawl at my (cat-free) apartment. Isn't it pretty?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The next shop was <a href="http://creativeyarns.ca/" target="_blank">Creative Yarns</a> out in Scarborough. The owner, Nina, is really nice and has a great sense of colour. Her shop is filled with great design/yarn combos to buy. They also had Kauni, which I haven't seen anywhere else in Toronto. I didn't see the EQ (rainbow) colourway, so I didn't get any, but it was nice to give it a feel.<br />
Erin, Kara and I all bought the same yarn in the same colourway- an amazing neon striped sock yarn. We're planning on bringing it to knit night so we can all make the same socks at the same time. 'Cause we're cool kids.<br />
There's also a delicious bakery next to Creative, so we stopped and got cheese pies to tide us over until lunch.<br />

Here we are on the TTC, enjoying playing with yarn and chatting. This is my awesome groupie skills (a groupie being a selfie with a bunch of people).<br />

The next shop is my favorite and my weakness. The<a href="http://thepurplepurl.com/" target="_blank"> Purple Purl</a> is filled with things I want, including amazing yarn, tasty food and drink and so much colour. Oh how I love the colour.<br />
Not to mention the owners, Jen and Miko, are just the nicest people. They are always friendly, helpful and make you feel welcome.<br />
<br />

I knew my resolve would crumble, and after being so good in the first 2 shops I ended up buying a bunch here. Some plain grey Cascade 220 to go with some pink in my stash for a striped cardi, some amazing Liberty Wool Light which I plan on using to design a little baby sweater and a totally dreamy skein of turquoise Sweet Georgia Spun Silk Lace- my big splurge of the day. 100% silk, just gorgeous soft and slinky yarn. I can't wait to play with it.<br />
<br />
Kara and I grabbed fish n chips at this awesome little hole in the wall that I used to go to when I worked in the east side. BnB Fish n Chips- yummy and served properly in newspaper. <br />

The last shop of our day was <a href="http://www.romniwools.com/" target="_blank">Romni Wools</a>, which is a legend. I knew I'd end up buying some fun stuff here, because it's just too huge to not find something amazing!<br />
They've been remodeling to make everything more open, and it looks great. Romni is enormous- I didn't take any pictures of the sale basement, because it's impossible to capture.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqKzsaxMpDWbc_wRhzCYbqKB8y0mebJ-oK7BGN6j7Jq7OeImdjCLo398wJknSd-JyqAcRHRH81mDsXoPKhAfb3o-_55jChJzMNFHsndw2EDArUF5D7v54FHCWikh3IBbUbHAaoAmttEO8/s1600/ttckal11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqKzsaxMpDWbc_wRhzCYbqKB8y0mebJ-oK7BGN6j7Jq7OeImdjCLo398wJknSd-JyqAcRHRH81mDsXoPKhAfb3o-_55jChJzMNFHsndw2EDArUF5D7v54FHCWikh3IBbUbHAaoAmttEO8/s1600/ttckal11.jpg" height="189" width="320" /></a></div>
I wound up with two skeins of grey and pink angora from the basement (I'm thinking mittens) and from upstairs three skeins of Fleece Artist Knit East- one pink, one yellow, one pink/yellow variegated. Enough for a little cardigan!<br />
<br />
After Romni, we made our way to the Rivoli where we promptly dumped our cumulative yarn purchases onto the table.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It was a pretty big crowd, and a lot of fun. Everyone is so nice at the KAL!<br />
Once the group had gathered, they went through and did prizes. Each group had 4 prize draws, then there was an enormous draw you could enter for a giant grand prize basket, then a prize for the person who bought the most, then a few draws for the last remaining prizes.<br />
<br />
I won something!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

That's right, the one prize of the day that is only for knitters... I won. It's an amazingly beautiful set of interchangeable needles, and I just about killed myself laughing when I found out what I'd won.<br />
<br />
It was such a great day- it's a wonderful event, all the proceeds go to charity and the volunteers just do an excellent job making it a fun community event. I can't wait for next year, it's the 10th anniversary of the Knitalong, and I plan on being there!Lynn Sibleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651175106466351323noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6496062654649237250.post-71805447533481110272014-07-08T15:16:00.000-04:002014-07-08T15:16:27.503-04:00Rainy DayIt's a rainy day today, and I don't feel like doing anything. I might get around to calling and making a few doctor's appointments, but after spending most of yesterday at the doctor I'm not really keen on repeating that soon. Even though I need to. Yesterday I got updated on 7 vaccinations, so today my arm is hurting (thankfully it was only 2 shots, but the one with tetanus is always makes me feel a little tender). <br />
It's time for me to have another hearing test, as it seems like I'm developing the same genetic hearing loss my mother has. I also need to head to a travel clinic for more vaccinations- because I'm going to China!<br />
I'm going to be leaving in about three weeks, and I'll be spending 7 weeks in Shanghai with my brother and his family. That means I get to cuddle with my incredibly adorable nephews and do all sorts of fun activities with them, not to mention seeing my awesome big brother and his wife, and seeing China again and possibly other parts of Asia while I'm there.<br />
I can't wait.<br />
<br />
Right now, I'm trying to learn a bit of Mandarin so I won't be completely lost while I'm there. I'm almost ready to go.. visa acquired, plane ticket in hand, just need to get some vaccinations, decide what yarn I'm going to bring and get to packing.<br />
Andrew is understandably rather upset that I'll be away from him so long, and I am going to miss him like crazy. But this is such an amazing chance for me to spend time with my nephews while they're little. They're only almost-2 and almost-4 right now.<br />
Alright, I'd better make those appointments- and then I'm spending the rest of this rainy day playing video games, learning Mandarin and maybe cuddling up with the hubby to watch a movie or just hang out.Lynn Sibleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651175106466351323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6496062654649237250.post-36481207601294960872014-07-05T12:10:00.001-04:002014-07-05T12:10:11.954-04:00On The HookBefore I talk to you about my wips, you should all go check out my former coworker's<a href="http://teresapdesigns.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank"> blog.</a> She designs adorable stuff and has fun tutorials and ideas. <br />
<br />
I have so many projects on the go right now. It's great- some are new, but I've also picked up a lot of projects I put down ages ago. Let me take you through the ones that are active right now.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX4OsoS9QfBwyNeyxIDQP6F0jOeFL7vdIFwLi65Khn_mxsc7fbB6PfeHfrJU9I6-48-XE_vAMsFgGTxsypN-8g6Zuz-GeCKZj0JqofEubSFeUOn655Oz0BQnZAaWYYM9AP626sBJ0HI7Q/s1600/rainbowshirt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX4OsoS9QfBwyNeyxIDQP6F0jOeFL7vdIFwLi65Khn_mxsc7fbB6PfeHfrJU9I6-48-XE_vAMsFgGTxsypN-8g6Zuz-GeCKZj0JqofEubSFeUOn655Oz0BQnZAaWYYM9AP626sBJ0HI7Q/s1600/rainbowshirt.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
This is one I started awhile ago. It was gonna be a tank top, but now I've decided it should be a drape front top instead. I'm so excited about it, I loooooove rainbows so much. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvhSAqjCGC00E7ME0l8N7bm7nWg2OyLSbmRhn2v0NwWCU5sBpn3A0xUSHfK2qED1Vz9d8m2k8HApLLzgzMPPX-mYeI1Q62IACvMcyTa3JeAwUECoVX1u9WlNh9U9vcX_MybGjoJWMoQzc/s1600/candicecardi.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvhSAqjCGC00E7ME0l8N7bm7nWg2OyLSbmRhn2v0NwWCU5sBpn3A0xUSHfK2qED1Vz9d8m2k8HApLLzgzMPPX-mYeI1Q62IACvMcyTa3JeAwUECoVX1u9WlNh9U9vcX_MybGjoJWMoQzc/s1600/candicecardi.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
This is a sneak peek at the cardigan pattern I'm designing. I love the fun cable on the back. I'm hoping to have testing for this going by the end of this week.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmNEm3mJzspr0KEYaREIsh5GwopLTsdKDHTnM7EifLHf6tiigTWHMiOU8TPznndgpObZgL5tM4-Nem2aVxmR1xchynEICjEDOZ9cfc5HYohWmZVLP2S99VJxYDm7cWtcDYzYwasHxYmRg/s1600/baseballtee.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmNEm3mJzspr0KEYaREIsh5GwopLTsdKDHTnM7EifLHf6tiigTWHMiOU8TPznndgpObZgL5tM4-Nem2aVxmR1xchynEICjEDOZ9cfc5HYohWmZVLP2S99VJxYDm7cWtcDYzYwasHxYmRg/s1600/baseballtee.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
This will eventually be a baseball style shirt- probably 3/4 sleeves, but I haven't decided that much yet. The yarn is very soft- it's 50% Viloft from Eucalyptus, and has a lovely drape.<br />

This is the second ARG plush for Andrew's Kickstarter rewards. He's not the most exciting project, but it'll be fun once I get to the embroidery bits and the dangly dangly legs.<br />

This cardigan is something I am so incredibly excited for.<br />

It's been my on the go project for quite awhile now. It's fingering weight and it's going to have a drapey sorta front bit and then I'm thinking I'll add ribbing to the bottom... I can't wait to have it done, but I'm also enjoying working on it. Isn't the colour awesome? It's <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/araucania-botany-lace" target="_blank">Araucania Botany Lace</a>, which is definitely a favorite of mine. It's very similar to Ella Rae Lace Merino, another awesome yarn. Sproingy soft 100% merino, it has beautiful stitch definition and just feels so great. When the store closed, I almost bought about 5 sweaters of this yarn because I love it so much. In the end, I stuck to just this one. I feel so noble for that. Ha!<br />

This is a basic raglan shawl with just a bit of cable detail on the front. Nothing fancy or exciting, just making it like a top down sweater and then not separating for sleeves. I want something thick and warm and cozy for the winter. This one hasn't been getting so much love this season.<br />

This is a tank top I started several years ago from this absolutely bonkers yarn. It's a ribbon yarn, so it's got some crazy drape to it, but it has these bizarre spots of glitter that's almost like a patch of glue on the yarn. I'm pretty excited to see how this thing turns out because I just can't predict what's gonna happen.<br />

These are my next pair of lovely comfy vanilla socks. It's so exciting to have a pattern I'm excited to make for all my sock yarn. I'm an addict now, what can I say? <br />

And last, but certainly not least, my newest cross stitch. The nerdy among you might recognize the start of a Firefly quote. I can't wait to put this one up in the house. You can find the pattern <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/154425121/firefly-captain-mal-quote-cross-stitch?ref=listing-0" target="_blank">here</a>- I've purchased two patterns from her now, and they're pretty much the best.<br />

Alright, it's time to get the hook back out. I need to get going on these projects!Lynn Sibleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09651175106466351323noreply@blogger.com1
